About Us

History

Scottsville Road Baptist Preschool began in 1994 under the direction of Helen Jernigan, founding Director, with the vison of providing quality and effective childcare as well as a distinctively Christian early education to children.  Our goal is that when a child leaves our program and enters Kindergarten, they are prepared physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually for the challenges that lie ahead of them.  We further believe in the potential for greatness in every child.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Scottsville Road Baptist Preschool is to provide an environment of Christian care, nurture, and witness to children and their parents during the work week. We strive to prepare every child intellectually, socially, and spiritually to face the challenges of a lifelong education, and to help parents to provide an early spiritual foundation on which a successful life can be built.

Goals and Objectives

Our objectives are to encourage children to:

  1. Begin to understand Jesus’ love and teachings
  2. Learn Bible stories and songs
  3. Feel cared for and secure
  4. Enjoy and feel successful in learning
  5. Develop physical skills including the use of small and large motor skills
  6. Learn through play
  7. Express themselves creatively using language, art, and music
  8. Appreciate beauty and become more aware of the world God has made
  9. Work and play with others

Christian Environment

At SRBP your child will be cared for and taught by staff members who love children and Jesus.  The children pray before eating and sing about Jesus every day.  Beginning in the Twos, youre child will be exposed to weekly scripture memorization associated with learning the alphabet.  All children, except the Nursery, will attend chapel each Friday from 9:30-10:00 a.m., which includes: a Bible story, songs, and prayer.

We are blessed to be able to offer a good balance of educational, spritiual, and nuturing opportunities to your child.
