Our Focus
Our Vision Statement
Scottsville Road Baptist Church is a place to unite with God’s family through Jesus Christ.
Our Purpose Statement
Scottsville Road Baptist Church exists to glorify God, to gain new believers, to grow together in spiritual maturity, to gather as one body, and to give ourselves in service as God shapes us.
Our Values Statement
Beliefs are not worth much unless they are translated into actions. Based on what the Bible teaches, we feel very strongly about the following seven practices:
B-A-P-T-I-S-T
Bible as our Sole Authority
2 Tim. 3:16-17 – “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (NKJV)
Autonomy of each local church
Col. 1:18 – “And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.” (NKJV)
Priesthood of every believer
1 Pet. 2:9 – “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” (NKJV)
Tithing
Lev. 27:30 – “A tenth of the produce of the land, whether grain or fruit, belongs to the LORD and must be set apart to him as holy.” (NLT)
Immersion
Col. 2:12 – “buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.” (NKJV)
Spirit-led living
Eph. 5:18 – “Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you.” (NLT)
Telling others about Christ
1 Pet. 3:15 – “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;” (NKJV)
